The Museum of Islamic Art at a glance
The Museum of Islamic Art, often shortened to MIA, shows Islamic art in a building designed by the architect I. M. Pei. It stands on the water, and the park around it opens onto the bay and the skyline. You can combine the museum with a walk in the park.
The museum has one rest day each week and closes on special dates. Check both before you go. Prices are not the same in every source, so the section on tickets below shows the two figures.

Opening hours
Regular hours of the museum. The park has its own times.
| Day | Hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday to Tuesday | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. |
| Wednesday | Closed |
| Thursday | 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. |
| Friday | 1:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. |
| Sunday 25 October 2026 | Closed to the public |
The 25 October date is a one-off closure. The National Museum of Qatar closes early that day, at 3 p.m., so plan a visit there for the morning. Hours change during Ramadan, and the hours of one year do not carry over to the next. Check the museum's visit page before you travel.

Tickets and prices
Two sources give two adult prices.
The two prices
A tour portal lists the entry ticket at QAR 50 (about $14) without a guide, with the offer shown from 17 October 2026. The national tourism site lists adults at QAR 100 (about $27) and names free entry for Qatar and GCC residents and for children up to 16. These figures do not agree, so check the price when you book.
What the ticket covers
The museum operator says the ticket includes the museum and all its exhibitions. It is valid once, on the day you choose. If the online page shows no tickets, try again later or ask at the desk. A ticket page that is full does not mean the museum is closed.
Compared with other museums
Museum prices differ in Doha. The National Museum of Qatar is listed at QAR 25 (about $7), the Sports Museum at QAR 50 (about $14). The Discover One Pass costs QAR 70 (about $19), runs for 5 days and does not include guided tours. Access to Mathaf through the pass is described in conflicting ways.
National Museum of Qatar โDiscounts
Discounts for students, seniors and residents differ between sources. Do not rely on a discount from another museum, and ask at the desk with your ID.
MIA Park
MIA Park is open 24 hours, according to the museum. The park hours do not apply to the galleries, so the lawns can be open while the museum is closed. That makes the park a fallback on the museum's rest day.
The promenade at the water has views of the museum building and of the skyline across the bay. Parking is limited and fills up quickly at weekends. When the park hosts a large event, the museum car park is closed.

Plan your visit
Simple rules that save time.
Pick the day
Avoid Wednesdays and Sunday 25 October 2026. On Friday the museum opens only in the afternoon. Thursday is the longest day, open until 9 p.m., which suits an evening visit.
Plan the time
The last entry time can differ from the closing time, so arrive at least an hour before closing if you want to see several galleries.
Ramadan
In Ramadan 2026 Qatar Museums published these hours for its venues: Saturday to Thursday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. to midnight, Friday 8 p.m. to midnight. Do not apply these to other years. Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February, but the date depends on the moon sighting.
Dress
Men and women should keep shoulders and knees covered in public places, including museums.
Getting there
Parking is limited and fills fast at weekends, so a taxi is simpler on Friday and Saturday. Check the Metro map for the nearest station.
