The National Museum of Qatar at a glance
The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) covers the history of Qatar and its people. Its design is inspired by the desert rose, the flat crystal shape that forms in desert sand.
Plan around the opening days. The museum is closed on Tuesday and stays open late on Thursday. Individual galleries can be closed for improvements while the rest stays open, so check the current status before you go.

Opening hours
Regular hours as published by the museum. Last entry is 45 minutes before closing.

Tickets and prices in 2026
Museum prices differ, so do not assume one price for all of them.
| Museum | Listed entry price | Closed day | Metro |
|---|---|---|---|
| National Museum of Qatar | QAR 25 ($7) | Tuesday | Gold Line, National Museum |
| Museum of Islamic Art | QAR 50 ($14), see note | Wednesday | โ |
| 3-2-1 Olympic and Sports Museum | QAR 50 ($14) | Tuesday | Gold Line, Sport City |
The NMoQ price of QAR 25 is an entry-only offer valid from 17 October 2026, and the guided tour is extra. For the Museum of Islamic Art, one booking page shows QAR 50, while the national tourism page lists QAR 100 for adults, so confirm the price at the time of purchase. Free or reduced entry for residents, children and students is reported, but the age limit and the groups differ between sources. Ask at the ticket desk or check the current terms before you go.
The Discover One Pass costs QAR 70 ($19) and is valid for 5 days from first use. It is advertised for the Museum of Islamic Art, the National Museum of Qatar, the Sports Museum and Mathaf, with available exhibitions included and guided tours excluded. The pass page also says Mathaf is closed until further notice, so do not count on it. Do the sums for the museums you actually plan to visit.
Getting there and what to know
The museum is easy to reach by Metro.
By Metro
Take the Gold Line to National Museum station. Visit Qatar gives a standard day cap of QAR 6 ($2). See getting around Doha for cards, lines and Friday hours.
By car
The vehicle and pedestrian entrance is at the roundabout where Mathaf Street meets Museum Park Street. There is parking on site.
Booking a slot
Qatar Museums recommends buying ahead for the time slot you want. The entry window is 1 hour. Children under 12 must be accompanied.
Rules inside
Hand in large bags. Food and drink, flash, tripods and selfie sticks are not allowed in the galleries. Cover your shoulders and knees, because the museum can refuse entry for unsuitable clothing.
Gallery closures
The museum is open, but individual galleries can be closed for improvements. One tour operator gives 30 December 2026 for the maintenance work, so some galleries may stay closed until then. Check the status of the galleries you want to see.
3-2-1 Olympic and Sports Museum
The 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum has interactive sports exhibitions and sits at the Khalifa International Stadium. It is not at the Lusail Stadium. Reach it on the Gold Line to Sport City.
The entry price is QAR 50 ($14), without a guided tour. Opening days follow the same pattern as the National Museum: 09:00 to 19:00 on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, closed on Tuesday, 09:00 to 21:00 on Thursday and 13:30 to 19:00 on Friday. If you like sport, pair it with the National Museum on one Gold Line day.
